Artwork Statement
poppies, those who stand out, and bloom brighter. Perhaps if we examined the cause for the impulse to diminish another’s success, we would actually find a quiet personal envy or hurt we didn’t realise was there. If we nurtured awareness around our own hurts, instead of projecting them onto others, we could disrupt this pattern of sabotage and realise the power of growing together.
About the artist
Carly Walker is a graphic designer by day, generally working across varying digital mediums. Walker also enjoys working with her hands and the calming, and meditative practice that comes with that. She explores other avenues of creativity in her spare time from painting, DIY projects, to macrame, gardening, sewing and making beaded jewellery.
