On 18 May 1980, Mount St Helens, in Washington State, USA erupted, decimating everything in its path.
When I visited four years later, the regeneration of the vegetation had only just started to emerge from the ash; the commencement of new life in the area.
About the artist
Makin comes from a very talented artistic family. Her mother, siblings and extended family all loved to draw and paint. Makin enjoyed sketching and painting as a child, but only recently returned to painting herself when she joined the Miles Art Group.
